KABUL (Pajhwok): Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov has said that the security of Central Asia is inseparable from stability in Afghanistan.
Japarov made the remarks in an address to heads of state ahead of the election of non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), which will be held on June 3 in New York, News Brief reported.
He said Kyrgyzstan would pay particular attention to the situation in Afghanistan.
“We proceed from the position that the security of Central Asia is inseparable from the stability of that country,” he said.
Japarov added that Kyrgyzstan would continue its humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people and supported the gradual economic and political integration of Afghanistan into the international community.
In another part of his speech, he called for support for Kyrgyzstan’s candidacy and stressed the need for fairer representation of small and developing countries within the UNSC.
