KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) says Uzbekistan has provided 200 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including food supplies, to support flood victims in Balkh province.

In a statement posted on its X account today (Tuesday), the organization said the shipment had been handed over to the ARCS with the support of Uzbekistan and would be distributed among families affected by the recent floods.

According to the statement, the aid package includes 96 tonnes of flour, 22 tonnes of rice, 22 tonnes of chickpeas, 22 tonnes of sugar, 22 tonnes of macaroni, 15,000 litres of cooking oil, 10,000 cans of cooked meat, biscuits, and other essential food items.

The ARCS said the assistance is intended to help flood-affected families and other vulnerable people in need.

The aid comes as recent floods in several provinces across the country have caused significant loss of life and property, leaving thousands of families in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

The organization added that the distribution process would be carried out transparently and in an orderly manner in the near future.
