KABUL (Pajhwok): At least three people were killed and 34 others wounded in 34 traffic accidents recorded across southern Ghazni province during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays, police said on Sunday.

In a statement, the police headquarters said most of the accidents occurred on the Kabul-Kandahar highway and were caused by reckless driving.

It said the accidents were recorded during the four days of Eid, resulting in three deaths and 34 injuries.

It added five people lost their lives in drowning incidents in the province during the same period.

Three people drowned while swimming in Malistan district, one in Sarda Dam and another in Sultan Dam, the statement concluded.

Every year during the Eid holidays, numerous young people, particularly motorcyclists, are involved in traffic accidents caused by speeding and carelessness, resulting in deaths and injuries.
