KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 12 people have been killed, including senior Lebanese army officers, in Israeli attacks across Lebanon, according to reports.
The Lebanese army said a brigadier general, a captain, and a soldier were killed in an Israeli strike on a military vehicle on the Khardali–Nabatieh road, Al Jazeera reported.
The Israeli military said the strike took place in an “active combat zone” and stated that movement in such areas requires coordination with Israeli forces. It added that the incident remains under investigation.
The Lebanese army condemned the ongoing attacks, saying the “deliberate and repeated brutal Israeli aggression” is aimed at undermining efforts to reach a political solution.
Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun described the strike as a “flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and international laws and norms,” while Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called it “a heinous crime and an attack on Lebanon and all Lebanese people.”
The Lebanese armed group Hezbollah also condemned the attack, calling it a “heinous crime” and accusing the Lebanese government of exposing the country to violence through what it described as “complete surrender to the enemy’s demands in Washington.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the killings demonstrate that Israel “is laying claim to Lebanon in all its components.”
