KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Monday that 75 people have died and three others injured in drowning incidents across the country since the start of the current solar year 1405.
The authority’s spokesperson, Hafiz Mohammad Yousuf Hamad, said the fatalities include 27 men, seven women, and 41 children.
He added that the incidents occurred in various provinces across the country.
Officials in eastern Nangarhar province said that at least 15 people have drowned in rivers while swimming over the past two months, 10 of whom were underage boys.
Hamad urged the public to follow the authority’s safety guidelines when swimming or going on outings.
