HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Security officials in western Herat say seven people have been arrested in connection with the killing of a young man and his mother, as well as the theft of cash and jewellery from their home in Zindajan district.
Dr. Syed Masood Hosseini, provincial police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place 20 days ago in Langar village of Zindajan district.
He said: “These individuals entered the house of one of the residents of Langar village in Zindajan district, first killed a young man in front of his mother, and then killed the mother after tying her hands and covering her mouth. After committing the crime, they stole cash and jewellery from the victims’ home and fled the scene.”
He added that security and intelligence forces launched extensive investigations and a follow-up operation after receiving the report, leading to the identification and arrest of all seven suspects.
According to Dr. Hosseini, all arrested individuals have confessed during preliminary investigations, and their case will be referred to judicial and legal authorities for further processing.
