France, Argentina, Norway secure FIFA World Cup victories

KABUL (Pajhwok): France defeated Iraq, Argentina overcame Austria and Norway beat Senegal in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

According to reports, matches between France and Iraq, Norway and Senegal, and Argentina and Austria were played on Monday night.

France recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over Iraq. Kylian Mbappé scored twice, finding the net in the 14th and 54th minutes, while Ousmane Dembélé added a third goal in the 66th minute.

In another match, Norway edged Senegal 3-2. Marcus Holmgren Pedersen opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, while Erling Haaland struck twice in the 48th and 58th minutes.

Ismaïla Sarr scored both goals for Senegal.

Meanwhile, Argentina defeated Austria 2-0 to advance to the next stage of the tournament.

Lionel Messi scored both goals for Argentina, opening the scoring in the 38th minute and adding a second in the fifth minute of stoppage time (90+5).
