HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Three people have been arrested in connection with the theft of six motorcycles in western Herat province, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Saturday.
In a post on X, the ministry said the three suspects were arrested on Friday during an intelligence-led operation carried out by security personnel from the 7th police district in Herat city.
It said the suspects confessed to the thefts during preliminary investigations and their cases have been referred to the relevant judicial authorities for legal proceedings.
The ministry explained the suspects altered vehicle registration documents and changed the chassis numbers of the stolen motorcycles before selling them.
It added that security forces, during follow-up operations, recovered 10 other stolen motorcycles from different parts of the district.
According to the ministry, the recovered motorcycles will be returned to their rightful owners after ownership has been verified and the necessary legal procedures have been completed.
