Agriculture minister travels India to boost bilateral cooperation

KABUL (Pajhwok): Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Minister Mawlavi Attaullah Omari has travelled to India to expand bilateral cooperation and exchange experiences in the agriculture and livestock sectors, the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MoAIL) said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the ministry said the visit aims to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, irrigation, livestock development and agricultural trade, while allowing Afghanistan to benefit from India’s successful experiences and achievements in these fields.

During the visit, Mawlavi Omari is expected to meet officials from India’s Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, senior government representatives and private sector leaders.

The ministry said the meetings will focus on expanding bilateral ties, enhancing agricultural cooperation, exchanging expertise, introducing modern farming technologies, strengthening the livestock sector and increasing agricultural exports and imports.

The Afghan delegation will also visit several agricultural centres and programmes in India to learn from the country’s modern technologies and successful practices in agriculture, irrigation and livestock development.
