KABUL (Pajhwok): British media outlets, citing two witnesses, have published fresh accounts alleging war crimes by UK special forces in Afghanistan, including the killing of Afghan civilians and the alleged mistreatment of detainees.

Sky News reported on Tuesday that Christopher Green, a former member of the UK Army Reserve, testified that three brothers were killed during a British forces operation in Rahim village in 2012, despite available information indicating that they were farmers.

The report did not specify the Afghan province where Rahim village is located.

According to the report, Monica Grenfell, a former journalist, testified that a British soldier had told her Afghan detainees were placed on trucks as a form of entertainment, lifted onto the vehicles and driven at high speed until they fell to the ground.

The report said the Afghanistan Inquiry is investigating allegations of war crimes by UK special forces in Afghanistan, as well as claims of a subsequent cover-up.

The UK Ministry of Defence said it supports the inquiry process and would not comment further until the investigation is concluded.

The inquiry is examining allegations of war crimes allegedly committed by British forces in Afghanistan between 2010 and 2013.

According to reports, evidence from an investigation into allegations that UK special forces unlawfully killed 80 Afghan civilians between 2010 and 2013 was released on May 29 this year.

Reports have also said that some former members of UK special forces admitted to committing war crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq, alleging that British troops killed unarmed people “while they were asleep at night” and even “executed” children who were too young to take part in fighting.
