KABUL (Pajhwok): At least seven people have been killed and 49 others injured in Russian missile and drone attacks on the Ukrainian cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia, Reuters reported on Monday.
Russia launched one of its largest overnight missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, killing one person and injuring 16 others, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
It said Russia fired 41 missiles of various types, while explosions damaged buildings across several districts and sparked fires.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said residential buildings, warehouses, a supermarket and a dormitory were among the damaged structures. Three of the injured were reported to be in critical condition.
In a separate strike on Sunday, four people were killed and 19 others injured in an attack on a postal depot near the northeastern city of Kharkiv, close to the Russian border, the regional governor said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said strengthening Ukraine’s air defence, particularly against ballistic missiles, remained the country’s top priority.
Russia has stepped up missile attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities in recent weeks.
