KABUL (Pajhwok): About 431 families, comprising 2,199 people, have returned to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan, the High Commission for Addressing Migrants’ Problems said.
Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, shared the commission’s daily report on Monday.
According to the report, 337 families, comprising 1,769 people, returned through the Torkham crossing and were registered there on Sunday.
It said 232 families were transported to their respective provinces, while 308 families received cash assistance and other support.
The report said 155 families, comprising 802 people, were transferred from Torkham to Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Kabul provinces, with more than 676,000 afghanis provided for their transportation costs.
It added that 252 families received 2.09 million afghanis in cash assistance at Torkham, while healthcare and telecommunications services were also provided at the Omari camp.
Meanwhile, 39 families, comprising 213 people, returned through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province.
Officials said 28 families, comprising 148 people, were transported to various provinces, with more than 360,000 afghanis paid for their travel expenses.
The report said 338,000 afghanis in cash assistance was distributed among the 39 families at Spin Boldak, where food, healthcare and telecommunications services were also provided.
The commission said 42 families, comprising 167 people, returned through the Pul-i-Abrisham crossing in Nimroz province, while 294 individual travellers also entered Afghanistan.
It added that four families received 32,000 afghanis in cash assistance, while 231 people were provided healthcare services.
According to the report, 13 families, comprising 50 people, returned through the Islam Qala crossing in Herat province and received 90,000 afghanis in cash assistance.
The Transport Committee in Kabul also transferred 49 families, comprising 311 people, to various provinces and paid more than 239,000 afghanis for their transportation costs.
The commission said a total of 431 families, comprising 2,199 people, returned to Afghanistan, 232 families, comprising 1,261 people, were transported to different provinces, and 308 families received cash assistance and other support.
