Kabul, Tehran stress expanding agricultural cooperation

KABUL (Pajhwok): Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Mullah Attaullah Omari and his Iranian counterpart Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh have stressed the expansion of practical and long-term cooperation in various agricultural sectors.

In a video statement, the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MoAIL) said Ghezeljeh, who arrived in Kabul at the invitation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), met with Omari.

It said the two sides discussed cooperation in improved seeds, agricultural machinery, plant and animal health, dairy products, agricultural research, irrigation and technology transfer and stressed the need to expand collaboration in these areas.

Omari welcomed the Iranian agriculture minister and emphasised the importance of expanding agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Ghezeljeh said agricultural cooperation between the two countries could contribute to food security.

He added that Iran was ready to expand cooperation in animal health, the production and processing of agricultural products, machinery, training and technology transfer, pest and disease control and food security.
