KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 30 people have been injured after a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Japan and areas around Tokyo, officials said, adding that there was no tsunami threat.
The earthquake struck parts of eastern Japan, including Tokyo, early on Sunday, the Associated Press reported.
Most of those injured suffered minor injuries, with some falling or being hit by objects inside their homes during the quake.
The earthquake also disrupted train services and caused a water pipe to rupture.
Japanese officials said no tsunami warning had been issued following the earthquake and that there were no immediate reports of damage to the country’s nuclear facilities.
Japan is located in one of the world’s most seismically active regions and experiences frequent earthquakes across the country.
