KABUL (Pajhwok): At least eight people have been killed and two others injured in an armed clash between two rival groups in Pakistan’s Sindh province, a media report said on Monday.
The clash broke out between two groups of the Chandio tribe in Dadu district on Sunday morning, Dawn reported.
Deputy Inspector General of Police in Hyderabad Tariq Darijo confirmed the incident, saying two of the victims belonged to the Sikandar Chandio group, while the other six were affiliated with the Ali Akbar Chandio group.
He said the latest clash was the second deadly confrontation between the two sides in recent months. The previous clash left 10 people dead and 12 others injured, he added.
Dadu senior police official Mir Saddam said the latest violence began when people affiliated with the Ali Akbar Chandio group attacked the rival side, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.
Police arrested several people following the clash and recovered weapons, according to the report.
Security forces have also been deployed in the area to prevent further violence and contain the conflict.
