QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Seven people have been arrested by the police “Green Unit” on charges of illegally cutting forest trees in southern Badghis province, police said on Sunday.
In a statement, the Badghis Police Headquarters said the individuals were arrested this morning during an operation in forested areas of Aab Kamari, Tagab-i-Alam, Sang Atash and Dara-i-Bum districts.
The statement said the detainees were accused of cutting pistachio and juniper trees.
The police added that the cases of those arrested had been handed over to the relevant judicial authorities for investigation and legal proceedings.
