HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Herat Governor Sheikh Maulana Islam Jar has called for practical measures to reduce fuel prices and increase the import of petroleum products through the province’s border crossings.
According to a statement from the governor’s office, Islam Jar held a meeting with members of the Price Control Committee to review the current fuel market and discuss measures to prevent further price increases.
Officials from the committee briefed the meeting on the current state of the petroleum products market, recent price changes and factors contributing to rising fuel prices, the statement said.
After hearing the report, the governor stressed the need to develop practical solutions to reduce fuel prices and instructed relevant officials to take necessary measures to regulate the market and prevent unreasonable price increases.
Islam-Jar also directed officials to facilitate increased imports of petroleum products through border crossings and streamline the import process.
He said increasing the supply of petroleum products in the market could help reduce prices and ease economic pressure on the public.
