KABUL (Pajhwok): The Taliban on Tuesday reacted to recent statements of Iran’s foreign minister about the group and accused the neighboring country of interference in Afghanistan affairs.

Javad Zarif, Iran’s foreign minister in an interview with Tolo News on Monday night said that the Taliban were still in the list of terrorist groups in Iran laws.

“The Taliban have committed many terrorist acts. we have not removed the Taliban [from our list of] terrorist groups, in our laws,” he had said.

However, Taliban accused Iran of interfering in the internal affairs of Afghanistan.

In a statement, the group said Iran obviously meddled in Afghanistan affairs. “These types of statements can damage relations between the two neighboring countries.”

“Taliban are not in any lists of terrorism of the UN, statements of Iran’s foreign minister in this regard proves his unawareness of the matter, we want Iranian authorities not to harm the emotions of the Afghan people with their irresponsible remarks,” the statement added.

“We always have tried and continue to keep positive relations with all our neighbors including Iran and we also expect the same from their side, we ask them not to make such speeches in future so we would also be not obliged to respond,” the statement concluded.
