QALA-I-NAW (PAN): A roadside bomb injured five Spanish soldiers in the northwestern province of Badghis, officials said on Sunday.
Their armored vehicle was traveling from Balamorghab district to Chighcharan City, the provincial capital, on Saturday when it hit a roadside bomb in the Jalogirak area of the district, head of the governor’s office, Sharafuddin, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Three of the five injured soldiers were in critical condition, he said.
The victims were taken to the Provincial Reconstruction) headquarters and may be transported to Herat, he said.
The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) confirmed the incident but, in keeping with their policy, did not provide any information about the casualties.
No one so far has claimed responsibility for the detonation.
