MAHMOOD RAQI (PAN): Coalition troops opened fired at a civilian car, killing one woman and injuring five others in Tagab district of central Kapisa province, a public representative said on Tuesday.
The incident took place in the Sherkhel area of the district late on Monday, provincial council member, Najibullah Rahimi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Abdul Hakim Akhunzada, the district chief, confirmed the shooting. However, he had no information about casualties.
NATO-led soldiers fired at the car, whose driver ignored signals to stop, said Inayatullah, a witness to the incident.
In response to an email from Pajhwok, the ISAF said: “We are aware of an incident in Tagab district, involving ISAF forces and Afghan civilians.
“What we can confirm is that on Monday, at approximately 1:25pm, a coalition patrol performed an escalation of force procedure that resulted in two individuals killed and one injured,” it added.
