LASHKARGAH (PAN): A district police chief was among three others killed in a roadside bombing in southern Helmand province, an official said on Monday.
The Gramsir district police chief, Saifullah Rashidi, was travelling with two of his police guards on Sunday, the first day of Eidul Azha, when their vehicle struck a landmine at around 5pm, police officer, Col. Mohammad Ismail, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A fourth policeman injured in the blast was taken to the main hospital in the province, he said.
Rashidi had previously served as police chief of Greshk district and assumed the charge as Gramsir district police chief a month back.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack. A Taliban spokesman said the dead included the district police chief and his deputy.
