TIRINIKOT (PAN): Two policemen, including a commander, were killed when their vehilce struck a roadside bomb in central Uruzgan province on Friday morning, an official said.
The incident took place in the Khwaja Ahmad area on the outskirts of provincial capital Trinikot city, police spokesman Farid Aayel told Pajhwok Afghan News. A police post commander and his bodyguard were killed in the attack that destroyed the police vehicle, he added.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack, but the Taliban said two police vehicles were blown up in Darwishan area of the city on Thursday. A number of policemen were killed in the attack, the rebels said, a claim rejected by security officials.
