FARAH CITY (PAN): Eight passengers were killed and five others wounded in an accident after the bus they were travelling in overturned in western Farah province on Sunday, officials said.
Governor Mohammad Akram Khpalwak told Pajhwok Afghan News that the crash occurred early this morning on the Herat-Kandahar highway in the Chakab area of Bala Baluk district. But the governor did not reveal further details.
Dr. Abdul Manan Rashidi, head of the provincial hospital, confirmed receiving two dead bodies and five injured people — two of them in critical condition.
The injured passengers blamed the bus driver for overspeeding that led to the accident.
A week ago, four members of a family, including three women, were killed in a head-on collision, when their Corolla car ploughed into a passenger bus on the highway between Gulistan and Delaram districts.
