HERAT CITY (PAN): A border policeman was killed and his three colleagues sustained shrapnel injuries when a roadside bomb tore through their vehicle in the Gulran district of western Herat province on Saturday, officials said.
The blast took place in the Robat Sangi area, a border police official from the 4th battalion said on condition of anonymity.
He said one policeman was killed and three others were wounded in the attack. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, he added.
Separately, two Taliban insurgents were injured during a trade fire with police in the Ab-i-Kamari district of Badghis province.
The clash that lasted 30 minutes erupted after the rebels ambushed the police, Badghis police chief Brig. Gen. Sharfuddin Sharf said.
