2 policemen killed in Paktia insider attack

KABUL in southeastern Paktia province on Saturday, an official said.

The predawn incident happened in Sadiq Qala area on the outskirts of Gardez, the governor’s spokesman, Roohullah Samoon, told Pajhwok Afghan News. The police official also surrendered weapons to the militants.

A security official, who did not want to be named, confirmed the fatalities. At least one policeman was wounded in the attack, he said, revealing the killer escaped with six weapons and a police pick-up.

Meanwhile, the Taliban claimed responsibility for attacking the Sadiq Qala police checkpoint. The group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said four policemen were killed and three others wounded.
