Taliban commander killed in Kunduz

KUNDUZ (PAN commander was killed and his two accomplices were wounded during a clash with police in Dasht-i-Archi district of northern Kunduz province, an official said on Sunday.

The rebel commander was killed after he and his group attacked a police post in Sarfaraz Tapa  area, the district police chief, Shikh Sadruddin, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The police suffered no casualties in the attack, he said, identifying the slain commander as Mullah also confirms the incident.

Dasht-i-Archi public relations officer Nasruddin  said two insurgents were detained during a joint Afghan-ISAF forces’ operation in Lamry area of the district.

He added the insurgents had newly returned from Pakistan to perform anti-government activities in Kunduz.
