KABUL): Murad Quenili has appointed as a new governor for northern Jawzjan province, replacing Mohammad Alam Sayee, President Hamid Karzai’s office announced on Saturday.
A statement from the Office of Administrative Affairs at the Presidential Palace said that Quenili, a former senator, had good experiences and the required qualifications.
The ex-governor was sacked after a clash between his supporters and workers of the Junbish-i-Islami Party — led by Abdul Rashid Dostum — in the Shiberghan a month ago.
