KABUL): The spy service on Tuesday claimed detaining two members of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) during an operation in the central capital Kabul.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a statement the pair was arrested in the jurisdiction of the fifth police district of Kabul.
Identifying the detainees as Fahim Jan, a resident of central Maidan Wardak province, and Ibadullah from Parwan province, the NDS said the two had confessed to involvement in militant activities.
It claimed the IMU members had received training in Pakistan border.
The NDS said the pair was also involved in several deadly insurgent attacks in the Warduj district of northeastern Badakhshan province.
