LASHKARGAH (PAN-fired rocket hit a passenger car in the Greskh district of southern Helmand province, an official claimed on Sunday.
The civilians were on their way to Sangin district when the stray rocket struck their vehicle in Kampark area late on Saturday, the governor’s spokesman said.
Omar Zwak, who accused the Taliban of firing the rocket, said the dead included two women and three men.
When contacted, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi only said the fighters had killed a police check-post commander in Sangin.
Meanwhile, three militants were killed and nine others wounded during a clash with police border in Khanshin district.
The sixth border police zone officer Hamidullah Siddique told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash broke out in the Taghaz area near the Pakistani border.
He said the surviving militants took their dead and injured comrades cross the border into Pakistan after the clash. The Taliban have so far said nothing about the clash.
