JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least nine Taliban and Islamic State (IS) fighters have been killed and six others wounded in separate clearing operations in different parts of the country.
A statement from the 201st Selab Military Corps said five IS fighters were killed and a mortar seized during an operation in the Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province.
Security forces suffered no causalities during the offensive, the stamen said, adding Afghan commandoes recovered 2,000 kilograms of explosives from a car in Samarkhel area and detained two suspects.
Separately, four Taliban were killed and six others wounded during an offensive codenamed Khanjar in the Tagab district of central Kapisa province, a separate statement said.
