JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 27 Daesh militants have been killed during ground and air raids in eastern Nangarhar province, local officials claimed on Sunday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents were killed in separate operations in different areas of the province on Saturday night.
He said 27 Daesh fighters, including foreigners, were killed in Mohmand, Mazdaki, Giro and Abdulkhel areas of Achin district. Security forces and civilians suffered no casualties.
In Kabul, a statement from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) also said that several Islamic State militants were killed during airstrikes in Achin district. The rebel group, however, has not yet commented.
