Hundreds of Khost students rally against Quran burning

The participants asked the US government to bring to justice the Christian preacher who burned and desecrated the holy book.

The demonstration, the latest in a series of similar protests in different parts of the country over the past on week, was carried out by students of the Sheikh Zaid University in Khost city.

The demonstrators shouted slogans against the pastor and carried anti-US and pro-Islam placards.

In earlier such demonstrations, seven United Nations staff were killed in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif on April 1.

However, the protest in Khost city ended without any violence, with protestors calling for punishment of the US priest for inciting deadly protests in the country.

A teacher at the university, Attaullah, called on other Islamic countries to carry out peaceful protests against the Quran burning.

The teacher was opposed to violence during protest demonstrations and asked the protestors to stay calm and avoid causing damages to public or private properties.
