A joint Afghan-international security force detained several suspected insurgents while pursuing an Al Qaeda leader in Behsud district, NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a statement.
The leader, who operates for Al Qaeda and the Taliban, the force said.
The combined force searched a compound in the area and arrested several suspected militants for further questioning, the statement said.
Behsud district chief, Israrullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News the operation was carried out in Karez Kabir area on Monday night. He confirmed the capture of five individuals.
