QALA-I-NAW (PAN): Afghan intelligence operatives seized explosives, thwarting a possible terrorist bid, in the western province of Badghis, an official said on Friday.
National Directorate of Security (NDS) agents found a bomb-rigged motorbike near the Qala-i-Naw River late on Thursday night, the spy agency deputy chief for Badghis said.
Col. Abu Bakar told Pajhwok Afghan News bomb disposal experts from the Spanish Provincial Reconstruction Team defused the 4.5 kilograms of explosives.
Supporters of a regional Taliban Ghausuddin, wanted to use the motorcycle for a “terrorist act”, the intelligence officer said. No one has been arrested so far in this connection.
Nooruddin, a resident of the area, said the NDS personnel surrounded the neighbourhood at 10pm. They seized the motorbike packed with explosives near a house, he added.
