GHAZNI CITY (PAN): Ten Afghan soldiers were wounded in an explosion at a military arms depot in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Saturday.
The soldiers were injured when a gas cylinder exploded late on Friday night at an Afghan National Army (ANA) base near the main bazaar of Muqar district.
Sahib Khan, the district’s administrative head, told Pajhwok Afghan News the troops were in stable condition. He gave no further details.
Col. Daud Shah Wafadar, commander of the 203rd ANA Corps in Ghazni, confirmed the explosion. He said the blast caused no fatalities.
Meanwhile, a Taliban spokesman said “one of their supporters in the army” set the weapons dump at fire, causing three huge blasts. Nine soldiers were killed and three others wounded in the explosions, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi claimed.
