2 killed, 7 wounded in attack on ministry

KABUL): Some suicide attackers, wearing military uniforms, sneaked into the defence ministry building in the heavily-fortified Afghan capital city, killing two Afghan soldiers and wounding seven others, an official said on Monday.

One of the attackers in a military uniform blew himself up and killed two Afghan soldiers and wounded seven others, a defence ministry source told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The situation is under control and an investigation has been launched to identify the suicide attacker, the source said, without giving further details.

A rebel spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the assailants were Taliban-linked Afghan army soldiers.

He said defence ministers of Afghanistan and France and some generals of foreign forces, who were in a meeting at the ministry, were the target.
