QALAT (PAN, the rural development department director said on Monday.

The projects included 380 water wells, four mosques, a road in Qalat, the provincial capital, two clean drinking water schemes and a canal, Eng. Rahimdad told Pajhwok Afghan News. Overseen by department engineers, the schemes cost more than $2 millions.

Residents expressed happiness over the projects, saying similar plans should be launched during the ongoing year as well.

Sayed Muhammad, a resident of the Shah Joy district, where a mosque was built, said the Afghan government could better meet their needs than foreigners.

A tribal elder, Abdul Khaliq, said the projects were not enough to meet the needs of people. He said more development schemes should be executed.
