GARDEZ (PAN): Dozens of development projects will be launched in three districts of southeastern Paktia province during the current year, an official said on Tuesday.
The schemes would be implemented in Wazi Zadran, Girda Serai and Shwak, Governor Juma Khan Hamdard told a press conference, also attended by tribal elders from the districts.
Zadran thanked the elders for cooperation with the government. The Khost-Gardez highway project would begin soon, he promised, saying nine schools, eight clinics and dozens of retaining walls would be constructed in the three districts.
An eight kilometres road will be built from Gardez to Shwak, 15-km road from Gorky to Shwak Baba area, 35-km road from Wazi Zadran to Landi Lak and 60-km road from Girda Serai to Landikotal.
The governor’s spokesman, Roohullah Samoon, said the road and school projects would be financed by US-led Provincial Reconstruction.
