JALALABAD (PAN): Afghan border police killed three Pakistani fighters and injured seven others during clash in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Saturday.
The clash took place in the border district Lalpura late on Friday night, border police spokesman in the east, Idris Momand, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the policemen, escorting a supply convoy, was ambushed by a group of militants in the Fatah Mina area. The ambush sparked a firefight that resulted in the killing of three rebels linked to Al Qaeda’s Abu Hamza group.
The dead were residents of the Gandab area of Momand Agency, the official said, adding that another seven attackers were wounded. The militants had beheaded two Pakistani drivers in last nine days besides bombing a road construction company’s vehicle.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said he was unawareness of the incident.
