In line with a recent agreement between the USAID and FAO, the contribution will fund humanitarian coordination and information management activities.
“These activities include support for the Emergency Food Security Cluster at the country level and the compilation of baseline food security data and analysis to inform appropriate emergency response measures,” the USAID said in a statement.
US Ambassador to the UN Agencies in Rome, Ertharin Cousin, welcomed the contribution, stating: “FAO has a proven track record in emergency food security and agriculture coordination activities in the field.”
