KABUL and pave the ground for the security transition to Afghan forces, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in Kabul said on Monday.
“Osama bin Laden’s killing is a huge victory for all those involved in the international campaign against terrorism and a setback to terrorists and their supporters,” the ministry said in a statement.
It added: “Although many challenges in the fight against terrorism remain, the death Osama bin Laden — a symbol of terrorism for the people of Afghanistan — shows their determination to preserve their freedom.”
Afghanistan’s claim about the presence of Al Qaeda outside its borders had been reinforced by the US special forces’ operation in Pakistan‘s northwestern city of Abbottabad, the ministry said.
