KABUL): Security officials in Kabul on Thursday claimed to have foiled a terrorist attempt by seizing a huge amount of explosives and weapons.
The explosives and weapons were seized in Sarobi, Deh Sabz, and Paghman districts of the central Kabul province, Col. Mohammad Zahir, the 101 Asmae zone police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
About 100 machineguns, 18 anti-personnel mines, two RPG shells, four kilograms of gunpowder were seized in Sarobi and a machine gun, 13 RPG (BMP) shells, two anti-aircraft missiles, and a mortar shell from a secrete place in Bakhtiaran village of the Deh Sabz district, he said.
Police also discovered a boiler containing 10 kg of explosives in Darie Pashai district of Paghman.
Zahir said the explosives and weapons were meant for attacks in Kabul. mrh/ma
