GHAZNICITY(PAN): Two suspected militants were detained during a clean-up operation in southern Ghazni province, officials said on Sunday.
The operation involving personnel from Afghan National Police (ANP), Afghan National Army (ANA) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) was launched on Sunday morning in Qazi Qala, Khashik, Sangitak and Kochi Qala areas of fourth and fifth police districts of Ghazni City, police chief, Col. Zarawar Zahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The security personnel have so far came across with no resistance during the offensive that would continue for next few days, he said. Two suspected militants have been arrested.
The 203rd Thunder Military Corps commander, Col. Daud Shah Wafadar, said the operation would continue until the area was cleared of militants.
New checkpoints would be established in accordance with the situation on the ground, he said.
