KABUL, 21 May, 2011 (PAN): A heavy explosion rocked a posh neighbourhood of Kabul on Saturday noon, causing casualties, the defence ministry said.
The blast happened at a hospital in the high-security area of Wazir Akbar Khan at about 12pm, a statement from the ministry said. However, it did not give a specific casualty figure.
A doctor confided to Pajhwok Afghan News the bombing took place inside a paramedical camp. Security forces immediately cordoned off the scene, he said.
A spokesman for the Kabul police headquarters confirmed the incident in the diplomatic district but did not say what caused the blast.
Hashmatullah Stanikzai said he had no information about casualties. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast.
