TIRINKOT (PAN): A volleyball tournament, featuring six teams, concluded in Tirinkot, the capital of central Uruzgan province, on Saturday, an official said.
Two others teams from Chora and Deh Rawud districts were invited to the event, but they could not take part for security reasons, provincial sports director, Dr. Roohullah Almas, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the tournament was aimed at promoting peace through sports, encouraging players and boosting their capacity. The sports directorate team, which won the event, was awarded certificates and a trophy.
Nusrat, a spiker, said they had good players, but lacked facilities, including a proper playground. He urged the government to encourage volleyball players by providing them facilities.
