MAIMANA (PAN): As many as 1700 displaced families were provided food aid and other items by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in northern Faryab province on Tuesday, officials said.
About 260 tonnes of eatables were distributed to families displaced as a result of counterinsurgency operations in Qaisar district of the province the governor’s spokesman, Javed Beda, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Mohammad Faqir, a provincial council member, said the families were forced from homes in the Sanjatag area two weeks ago.
ICRC chief for Faryab, Asadullah Wafa, said 75 kilograms of rice, 15 kg of cooking oil, 35 kg of beans, five kg of sugar, seven quilts and kitchen ware were distributed to each family.
