KABUL): A would-be suicide attacker was killed on Tuesday in the 12th police district of Kabul before he could assault an intelligence operative, an official said.
The assailant, who wanted to target the intelligence official’s vehicle in the Nawrozabad area at 7am, was shot dead by the security personnel.
A source in the National Directorate of Security (NDS) told Pajhwok Afghan News the attacker was in an explosives-laden vehicle.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, identified the bomber as Islam Din, who targeted the NDS officer in the Arzan Qeemat neighbourhood. Two vehicles were destroyed and Afghan and foreign intelligence workers on board were killed, he claimed.
