KUNDUZ (PAN): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a woman and her baby in the northern province of Kunduz, officials said on Thursday.
Hafiza, 31, was gunned down along with her one year old son inside her house in the first police district of Kunduz City on Wednesday night.
The victim’s husband, who was away from home at the time of the attack, was detained for investigation, crime branch chief, Lt. Col. Abdul Ghafar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
They heard gunshots at night and the next morning they were informed the woman and her baby had been killed, a resident said. The victim was involved in immoral activities, he alleged.
Director of Women‘s Affairs Shafiqa strongly condemned the deaths during a visit to the victim’s house. She was allegedly killed for adultery, the director said.
“We have courts and prosecutors. People could move courts, but no one has the right to kill women and children,” she remarked.
