KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): A militia commander was killed along with one of his men by a bodyguard in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Saturday.
Commander Ismail was killed late on Friday in the Char Tot area of Khanabad district, when his bodyguard opened fire at him, the district police chief said.
A former Taliban fighter, Daud was appointed as the commander’s bodyguard, Col. Abdul Rahim told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s spokesman, claimed one of their fighters killed the commander along with a guard. Two people were injured in the shooting.
Local authorities said that motive behind the commander’s killing was yet to be ascertained. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
