17 militants killed in Orakzai strike

ISLAMABAD (PAN, a local official said on Tuesday.

Warplanes struck Taliban hideouts in the remote mountain ranges of Orakzai late on Monday night, Syeda Jan Bangash told Pajhwok Afghan News. Seventeen militants were killed and their hideouts destroyed.

With Pakistan planning to launch an offensive in North Waziristan, the operation was conducted in Mamozai area of the agency, where the fighters used to attack government officials, he said.

On Monday, US military chief, Admiral Mike Mullen, said the Pakistani government would carry out an operation in Waziristan. “It’s a very important fight,” the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff said in an interview.
